Gracie says: “I’ve been having symptoms of Cushing’s at least 14 yrs. I began testing with Dr. F. June, 2007. I was diagnosed in May, 2008 with cyclical Cushing’s disease. I have surgery coming up soon. I’m going to see Dr. J. next Monday, and I’ll get my surgery date that day, so I will know by the night of the program, when I am going to surgery.) Steve Owens (sowens) returns to talk about support networks and agencies

Steve Owens (sowens) returned on May 29, 7:30. His topic was building up support networks and using available agencies to get back to work (rehab, PT/OT, job coaches, etc).

Steve was diagnosed with HyperBeta Adrenergic Syndrome in August, 2005. Doctors thought he might have a pheo, now they’re checking for ACC cancer.

Interview with Terry G, pituitary patient

Terry (Terry) is a long time pituitary Cushing’s survivor. Terry had a pituitary surgery (in LA) in October of 2003 which did not cure her Cushing’s Disease. Then, Dec 13th, 2003 she had her BLA in a Wisconsin hospital. She also had an infection in her sphenoid sinus. It originated at the site of her pituitary surgery from October 2003. She had to be on a lot of antibiotics and narcotic pain relievers. In Sept 2005 the surgeon remove the infection from one area, making another area clear…..

Jen had Pituitary surgery by Dr. Shahinian 4/28/04, removed ACTH secreting corticotroph hyperplasia and prolactinoma.

She was diagnosed by Dr. Theodore Friedman as cyclical pituitary Cushings.

Her second Surgery 7/21/04 for infection resulted in neuralgia. She had a BLA in March 2006 as Corticol Hyperplasia returned and she now has possible Nelson’s syndrome. Jen also has Thyroid Issues (Hashimoto’s, multiple nodules and entire thyroid removed 2003) and she is Growth Hormone Deficient (3/2006)

Airline Transportation

Please contact your local travel agent or search the internet for the most reasonable price. Be sure to search often and book early as great fares sometimes become available. The airport of choice is O’Hare (ORD) which is located closer to the hotel. Midway (MDW) is in Chicago also but a distance from the hotel. Please read “hotel transportation” below before booking a flight to Midway.

Hotel Transportation

Free shuttle service is provided by Windy City Limo’s to the Westin Lombard from O’Hare Airport only! The shuttle schedule is as follows: O’Hare Airport to the Westin – Thursday – 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm, 5 pm and 7 pm Westin to O’Hare Airport – Sunday – Pickups at 8 am, 10 am, noon, 2 pm and 4 pm Shuttle buses will have a MAGIC sign in the window and will pick up at the following O’Hare locations: Terminal 1, Door 1G * Terminal 2, Door 2E * Terminal 3, Door 3G * Int’l Terminal, Door 5E Pick up will be in the middle aisle when you exit the doors from baggage claim. If you are unable to find the shuttle, you can contact Windy City at 866-949-4639. You may choose to arrive at Midway Airport but there is no free transportation available and a taxi will cost approximately $40.
